Feminism

Term used to describe the various social and political protest movements that demand gender equality and women’s rights in all areas of life, with the aim of eliminating the inequality they face. The feminist movement promotes action through individual and collective practice. Interrelated feminist theories have been developed in social, humanistic and natural sciences, making it possible to revise, denounce and rethink social categories in the definition of the position of men and women. The feminist movement is considered to have started in Europe at the end of the eighteenth century. It has since gone through various waves and seen a diversity of approaches pursued within it.
