The staging of the Ciudad Juárez feminicides

Addressing violence against women through narrative in fiction and theater raises complex ethical issues, particularly concerning the risks involved in representing victims. How should the suffering of others be brought to the stage?

To answer this, UOC researchers Adriana Nicolau and Teresa Iribarren, members of the GRESOL research group, have analyzed how the Ciudad Juárez feminicides have been translated to two highly impactful theatrical works: the stage adaptation of the novel 2666 by Roberto Bolaño, directed by Àlex Rigola, and La Casa de la Fuerza by Angélica Liddell.
