Fatphobia

Hostile, disdainful and exclusionary attitude and behaviour towards a person or group because they are heavier than prescribed by certain medical or aesthetic parameters. After gender, age and phenotype, weight is the factor that causes the most discrimination. It is one of the ways in which people’s bodies are controlled in our contemporary society, built on models of beauty that make being slim the ideal or normative standard. It is a form of aesthetic violence.
