Hypermasculinity is an exaggerated expression of traits traditionally associated with masculinity, such as physical strength, dominance, aggressiveness, and emotional repression. This masculine model is constructed as an ideal of virility and often manifests through contempt for or violence against anything perceived as weak, feminized, or dissident. Today, hypermasculinity is often fueled by nationalist and militarist discourses, which use it to consolidate hierarchical and exclusionary power structures, reinforcing rigid gender roles and promoting the marginalization of minoritized groups.
