Phallogocentrism

Term coined by Jacques Derrida (combining ‘phallus’, ‘logos’ and ‘centrism’) and used in linguistics and social sciences to refer to the privileging of the masculine in the use of discourse and the construction of meaning. It has been a key term in literary and philosophical work on gender to show the application and effects of androcentrism in the construction of discourse.
