The Research Diary

On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the session entitled The Research Diary, delivered by Professor Teresa Iribarren (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya), will take place within the framework of the Master’s Degree in Construction and Representation of Cultural Identities at the University of Barcelona, upon invitation by Professor Elena Losada.

The session will be structured in two parts. First, the project Resistant Readings will be presented, focused on the critical analysis from a gender perspective of literary works that depict violence against women and girls. Second, one of the teaching innovation methodologies included in Literature and Male Violence: A Guide for Academic Work (Iribarren et al., 2023) will be discussed: the research diary.

In this second part, the session will set out the definition and theoretical foundations of the diary as an academic documentation tool, outline the procedures that ensure its robustness, effectiveness, and productivity within research, and highlight its creative and metacognitive potential.

This activity has been carried out with the support of the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia, within the framework of the innovation grants for the improvement of teaching quality in the field of gender-based violence (INDOVIG 2023).
